For our first blog post, we decided to explain why we do what we do.
We recognise that dentists want to provide high quality care, irrespective of the type of treatment. We also know that dentists like to offer more than just a basic level of dentistry, and orthodontic treatment has never been more popular.
We identified that most dentists don't have access to high quality orthodontic courses at the beginning of their journey in this speciality. Most teaching is limited to the "certification courses" provided by the various brands, whether that is for clear aligners or fixed braces. It is our experience that such courses focus mainly on the process of starting treatment but offer almost no orthodontic teaching itself.
We provide the teaching that dentists need to provide orthodontic treatment confidently and safely. We want to inspire dentists to learn Orthodontics, enabling them to provide treatment with any brand of appliance. It does not matter what 'system' you use... orthodontic principles don't really change.
Our method is to build clinical skills and knowledge from the ground up.
This starts with essential assessment and diagnostic skills, and leads to complete case planning to incorporate restorative aspects of care. As skills progress, we expect that clinicians can challenge themselves with cases of increasing complexity.
More details about our teaching will be released in due course. In the meantime, check out our free resources for dentists to download and use in their clinical practice. We will add these to our Resources page so check back regularly for new material.
